Tips | Don't "Contaminate" Your Website's Analytics with Internal Visits

Disable Google Analytics for Internal Access to your Website

Every website logs the number of visitors and what pages they accessed.

To get accurate Analytics you need to make sure that your accesses to your websites do not count. This is especially useful when you have to update your website regularly.

There is a simple solution to prevent that your website access counts as a visitor.

This solution depends on the browser you are using:

1. Google Chrome

You just have to install the extension called "Google Analytics Opt-Out Add On"

  1. Click on the 3 dots on the top right corner of the window and then in Settings;

  2. In the opening window, choose "Extension" in the left menu;

  3. At the end of the list, click "Get more extensions";

  4. Search for "Google Analytics" and, when the list opens, click "Install" in the first extension.

2 - Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera

You just have to install an extension called "Google Analytics Opt-Out Add On". However this extension does not appear in Firefox's Extras page. Here is how to install it:

1 - Click the direct link to Google extension here: Google Analytics Opt-Out Add On;

2 - Click on the button "Get Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on";

3 - Read the contract and click "Accept and Install";

4 - Allow its installation and follow the steps in the new window.

3 - Conclusion

You now have a way to securely access your websites without contaminating its statistics gathering and therefor keeping your website's analytics clean.
